Ogopogo
Okanagan Lake’s mysterious lake monster is world renowned. This mural was designed by using actual underwater photos of Okanagan Lake and merging them with the First Nations legends and written accounts that describe the creature. Reports of Ogopogo sightings and testimonies date back to the 1860’s – making the Ogopogo 60yrs older than the Lochness Monster! “Ogopogo” is not the original aboriginal name for the monster, rather it is a name that comes from an old song. The traditional name for Ogopogo is n'ha-a-itk, meaning “lake demon”.
